Surface, surface! This is the entourage of The Posthumanities Hub. On the Swedish Day of Saint Lucia, we invite you to join us, along with land and sea creatures and critters, in restoring Lucia’s cult within the realm of post and more-than-human humanities. The name Lucia or Lucy originates in the Latin word lux, which means light. In the techno-heathen team of researchers, artists, and educators, she resurfaces to take the matronge of multisensorial research, speculative biologies, and the method of diffractive reading. Drawing inspiration from the subaquatic worlds of microorganisms in the depths of the dark seas, their first mission is to help dispel the stigma surrounding pit bulls as represented in some of the hip-hop cultures. Once condemned to defilement in a brothel for her commitment to distributing her patrimony to the poor, as per Western Christian tradition, a virgin no more! Lucy is infusing the realm of posthumanites with bioluminescence with The Posthumanities Hub reviving their legacy where it is mostly needed. Get ready to be involved by our speakers, Paola Ruiz Moltó and Ate Tervonen, in a fascinating discussion on the scientific and cultural fabrication of non-human animals, counterparting technoscience, and monstrosities in sea and land creatures!
