Cecilia Åsberg awarded the LiU Junior Faculty Prize 2025
We are delighted to share that Cecilia Åsberg, Professor and a leading voice in the environmental humanities and feminist posthumanities, has just been awarded the Linköping University (LiU) Junior Faculty Prize 2025.

The prize is awarded annually by LiU Junior Faculty to researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of junior scholars. Åsberg is recognized in particular for her sustained commitment to building supportive, creative, and sustainable research environments. Through mentorship, collaborative leadership, and generous sharing of expertise, she has played a pivotal role in fostering the independence and success of early-career researchers.
According to the Junior Faculty board, the award reflects Åsberg’s ability to:
- nurture strong and sustainable research environments for junior scholars,
- actively support their professional development and independence,
- create opportunities for teaching, supervision, and academic merit-building, and
- cultivate dynamic forums for intellectual exchange across career stages.
The decision followed a competitive nomination process, including testimonials and interviews with collaborators and junior researchers, which highlighted the far-reaching impact of her mentorship within and beyond her research group.
The prize consists of an official diploma and a personalized mirror that will be installed on the LiU Junior Faculty Prize wall at Studenthuset, Valla Campus.
This recognition speaks directly to the ethos of The Posthumanities Hub: fostering inclusive, collaborative, and future-oriented research cultures. We warmly congratulate Cecilia Åsberg on this well-deserved honour – and we continue our communal work in the Posthumanities Hub.
