Two new volumes/special issues on critical posthumanities have just dropped! Check out the contributions of our very own hubber Laura Larrodera-Arcega in both of them.
The Posthuman Condition in 21st Century Literature and Culture: Interdisciplinary Insights offers a comprehensive overview of the latest theoretical developments in the field of critical posthumanism. It also traces the inter-disciplinary collusions that arise out of the encounter between critical posthumanism and other fields, and it includes analyses of literary and cultural products that explore what it means to be posthuman in the 21st century.
There are contributions from Sherryl Vint and Ivan Callus among others. Find it here.
Critical Perspectives on the Already Posthuman World is a special section that brings together eight insightful contributions that explore the already posthuman world from an array of cultural and literary narratives. Drawing on recent developments in critical posthumanism, this section examines AI, human/nonhuman entanglements, hybrid identities, care, and ecology in speculative, cultural and political imaginaries. Contributions reconsider the humanist concept of ethics and care by presenting the dangers of power and control of social structures enmeshed in technological advancement, intersecting studies of afrofuturism, new materialism, ecocriticism, queer studies, politics of technology, among others. In this manner, these articles showcase literature and cultural products as vehicles for the transition from the Anthropocentric exceptionalism towards an ontology of relationalities, fluidity, vulnerabilities and materiality.
