Check out this Higher seminar in Gender Studies at Tema Genus, Linköping University, on 11/9 at 15.00 – 17.00 in room Lethe in the Tema Building, and on Zoom. The title of this seminar is “Treading the Ground Sensibly: Reflections on Deep Memory and Embodied Artistic Research in the Mãe Preta (Black Mother) Project”. Speakers are Isabel Löfgren (Södertörn University) and Patricia Gouvêa (Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil).
In this Higher Seminar, Löfgren and Gouvêa examine the role of artistic research as a form of activism focused on Black motherhood and maternal justice in Brazil. They will reflect on their collaborative project, Mae Preta (Black Mother), which engages with contested historical sites and the memory of slavery linked to Brazil’s colonial past. The project emphasizes the importance of deep memory, civic responsibility, and embodied artistic practices as tools for engaging with historical traumas and advocating for social change.
