Lena Håkansson

Lena Håkansson is a glacier researcher, a writer, educator and printmaker. She has a background in geology and a great passion to tell stories. Her academic background includes studying glaciers and ice sheets in relation to climate change and to their landscape forming agencies. As a geologist, she is striving to tell stories of our planet differently, moving away from anthropocentric narratives about the Earth.  

Selected projects

August 2024 and September 2023: Working together with the television channel Korean
Broadcasting Systems to record the documentary series “Glacier”.

March 2024: Invited participant in the project JORDSANS, Malmö Art Museum

February 2023: Release of my children’s novel “Isfarmor”

November 2022: Curator and moderator for the stage event “Soil Symposium” at
NOBA, Norwegian BioArt Arena at Vitenparken in Ås, Norway. A meeting between
researchers and artists on the theme of human relationships to living soils
