Laura Gottlieb (she/they) is a design researcher in the field of participatory design and is applying these methodologies in the public sector. Currently their work, at RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden,) explores how organizations can foster deeper participation and shared agency among employees and citizens through self-leadership and shared leadership. With a background in Philosophy and Information Experience Design, Laura’s interdisciplinary research explores how creative practices can support reflection and meaningful dialogue. Their PhD in Innovation and Design from Mälardalen University investigated the role of material artifacts in supporting joint inquiry, introducing the concept of ‘relational sensitivity’ to describe essential readiness for thinking and making together. This concept emphasizes that co-creation transcends methods, requiring relational readiness and sensitivity to how participants engage with and support one another. As a qualified facilitator of Philosophical Enquiry and Integral Facilitation, Laura’s practice involves designing and facilitating spaces for joint inquiry and co-creation, often using artistic- and designerly practices. Through her research and practice, Laura aims to contribute to deep, meaningful connection and reflection, fostering a greater relational sensitivity that embraces diverse perspectives and the complexities of human experience.
